Early one morning I found this red fox hunting in some snowy evergreen trees. It looked like it had caught something and was holding it in its mouth. Later I realized it's part of the lower jaw that has been injured in a fight (perhaps wife. coyote or maybe one of the ermine in the area). Winter has a unique set of struggles for wildlife, and nature can be a harsh reality.
